Trump’s Government Has Made Public The JFK Assassination Files

Well, let’s start right now with that breaking news; the Trump government has made public the JFK assassination files, which expose some unexpected Australian links. Indeed, chief reporter Chris Reason of 7 News joins us here on the set with more. Good breakfast, Rezo. This is very interesting material. Share more with us. I understand that this is only right now. Guys, it’s fascinating and just happened lately. These papers have just now been published. Â
Here is a bit of background. Six million records linked to the 1963 November 22 assassination back-off are known of. There’s video of JFK in Dallas. These records have been gradually released over years; one last batch of 80,000 documents has been produced. Donald Trump promised to let those go. Today is the beginning of that release. Â
It started almost exactly one hour ago. And in the first few papers made public, an Australian link has surfaced. And guys, this is really interesting. Right now I have a copy of some of those papers here with me. In a sequence of letters, the head of ASIO, Sir Charles Spry, asks the head of the CIA not to publish particular papers. Australian therefore imploring the Americans. The Americans are not releasing some records. Also fascinating is this. Â
Though there have been all kinds of links established between JFK and Australia, we have never seen them thus plainly. We are also continuously sifting over the records in search of what. But among the most crucial and vital components of that correspondence is this one.
From this Charles Spry, the ASIO head, to the Director of Central Intelligence, our inquiries of unidentified phone calls to the Canberra Embassy prior to and following the murder of President Kennedy Now, ASIO is requesting that the CIA keep the details of those calls private rather than public. And it coincided with their preparation for the crucial Warren Commission in 1963, the major probe.
They were concerned that, in relation to JFK’s murder, the Warren Commission was poised to expose this delicate material kept in the Canberra Embassy. Calls both before and after the murder. Though we are currently reviewing those files and published records to try to ascertain exactly what exactly was the content of that phone call, more questions than I can address here today.Â
Those calls paid to the… Rezo, I mean, impossible to know here, but do we believe the contents of those calls could fit the 80,000 files being released? Australian communication was used there. And this suggests awareness as it occurred both before and after the murder. Although I don’t want to go ahead here,… Still to be decided the relevance. Â
Released today are thousands of pages of hitherto unheard-of records on the murder of President John F. Kennedy. On the National Archives website right now, nearly 1,100 papers comprising around 80,000 pages are viewable. This follows the effort of President Trump toward file release. Additionally standing by is presidential historian and author James Robinault, who is familiar with the background of the killing. Â
Overview Of JFK's Assassination Files

James, today what have we discovered? Austin, we did learn a lot about the CIA. Of these, most are CIA-style records. Operation Mongoose is what it was named, much of detail on that involving mafia figures to assist them, from their scheme to try to assassinate Castro. That’s an amazing narrative.
According to a CIA memo, weeks prior to the murder, all sorts of discredit on the single bullet theory that the ballistics people thought you know was just not happening back when the warm report came out to the CIA operation out of Mexico City and all the intelligence they were gathering on Oswald. Jack Ruby and Oswald were seen in a nightclub. That makes it a truckload of data. It will need time.Â
Examining their 100-page depositions in it will take several weeks. It is really a veritable gold mine of evidence that starts to create a far more accurate picture of the CIA knowing kind of what was coming and might have been involved in the anti-Castro group out of Miami that could have been setting up Oswald. Thus, a great lot of things. Does this alter the accepted story? It will, in my view. As I have already indicated, this is like a large jigsaw puzzle—what we are going to end with.
And we have plenty of pieces set up here. Among some of these people’s identities and CIA records, we were ignorant of some. Everybody operates under a code name. People will therefore need a long time to sort through. But I believe it will demonstrate their active participation with the gang entwined with Oswald in New Orleans during the summer of 1963.
And the evidence is starting to look more and more like they were setting up Oswald and that the anti-castro group were the people who might have pulled the trigger so i i think there is a lot here to work with a lot to analyze and as you know Paul Landis revealed he found the bullet in the limousine you and I have discussed so this will then help us to better identify who could have been involved.
Therefore, why do you think it is okay to challenge the true narrative for those who are observing but have not seen our interviews prior? Then you know what? I will also mention this, by way of reference. According to official accounts, Oswald was the only gunman involved. Why then do you believe it fair to challenge that theory? Indeed, the most important thing was that Paul Landis discovered an immaculate bullet behind where Kennedy had been seated and Jackie had been seated.Â
Discover Between CIA And AISO

This indicated that bullet had just gone superficially into his back and fell back out. That implies that the official version—the bullet did not pass through him into Conley. And, you know, nobody ever believed one gunshot did all this damage. Kennedy gets hit, which causes problems. And Conley strikes in a split second as well. Thus, Oswald, who has a daring deed to shoot Conley, has little time.Â
About three seconds load and then shoot one more to strike Conley. There so had to be several shooters. And we know a conspiracy once we understand that. Knowing a conspiracy exists begs the issue of who participated in it. Still, the evidence is really solid suggesting several shooters. Based on what you have seen of the paperwork, are redactions present? No, thus far I have not seen any.Â
I have also seen folks publish who have gone through far more than I have personally experienced yet. They quite certainly did remove the redactions. And once more, you know, this will enable you to fit together these fragments of the puzzle since you have several persons in Miami who are recognized. You already have the persons from Mexico City recognized. And now you’re beginning to piece all this together to visualize the jigsaw once those bits are in place. Â
So I started to ask, as you and I have discussed endlessly. They worried that the Cubans would be blamed for this. They feared it would be ascribed to the Russians. And among all of this, they were not ready to gamble nuclear war. They so very much pushed the Warren Commission to finish it, assigning responsibility to one individual. And at that time the Warren Commission produced a report that began to disintegrate practically immediately. Still, many of people clung to it. Â
And the whole reason it’s taken all these years is that the CIA, convinced president after president that there were still living individuals. Operations they still needed to safeguard persisted. And only in the past year have we at last had someone say, “Well, enough of that.” Let us see all of it. It cannot be that we will wipe operations or individuals sixty years later. Still, it will be embarrassing, which is bad for the CIA.
Could you assist us in separating among the out-there conspiracy theories from credible sources? Conspiracy theories about this murder abound without shortage. And naturally, conspiracy theories are much more visible when you begin to challenge the official story of things. James, how do you, as you’re investigating this, and when you’re looking over these records what advise would you have for folks to avoid false information on the assassination?Â
You search for those who, when they say anything, have proof to support it and avoid indulging in speculation. Before they say anything, they must have proof; but, they can also compile data to back up their claims. You are thus truly searching for someone who has meticulously gone over the record, can cite records, and is not driven by merely wild conjecture over specific events. Â
One telling is that. Still, people visit that website including Jefferson Morley and Mary Farrell. When they mention something, you can see the supporting documentation. And that’s also crucial. You must possess evidence. Then what is next? Extra papers? Do we have more releases expected? Indeed, from what I know, this is only a first tranche; there is still plenty to come out of. Thus, I believe we will see more over the coming few days. Â
Trump said what happened; get it all out. And I believe the Department of Justice’s attorneys enjoy staying up all night to ensure they could provide some material. They haven’t unveiled all of it, though. That’s still to come. And then what’s actually going to happen is folks who are very deep into this will start to examine it very deeply and highlight particular elements. And it will be fascinating. It resembles a large-scale detective fiction novel. Â
Particularly when you read some of these memos on Project Mongoose, the whole operation to kill Castro with pills and, you know, all sorts of stuff is quite fascinating. Once this starts to be truly examined over the next few weeks, I mean, you’ll be astounded. We thus discussed this on the marking of 60 years since the assassination. Â
We then discussed the murder once more in February on news of 2,400 more records found by the FBI. That is how I think it was phrased. We so do not yet view those 2,400 FBI records. Not surprising at all is it. These FBI ones are brand-new; the ones we are seeing are ones that have been examined many times over the years. Â
