Lunar Eclipse 2025: Watch Tonight The Phenomenon Blood Moon

It’s not dusk yet, and you don’t see a blood moon very often. That will happen early tomorrow morning. You can see a full moon eclipse. That’s when the earth passes between the sun and the moon. The sun isn’t going down. What do we think people will be interested in tonight, late Thursday, and early Friday?

Now, let’s talk about when to send back. If you’re in the Eastern Time Zone, it will be about 2:26 AM where I am in Houston. Now, we don’t need any special glasses like we did during a sun eclipse. There is no need for a telescope. With your own eyes, you could see.

But, once more, all you need is clear air and a good view. And NASA can already see all of this. They have two spaceships that are not manned. They are now at the moon. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter from NASA is here. This has been going around the moon for 15 years. The Firefly Aerospace Blue Ghost Mission 1 is next.

A private lander just got to the moon’s surface about a week and a half ago. So scientists will get a lot of new information to help them get ready for future trips to the moon, like when the Artemis program brings humans back to Earth. They should also get some cool pictures of what’s going on there.

What I’m most excited about about this eclipse is not only seeing this rare stellar event, but also marking this moment in history as we get ready for people to go to the moon. The Artemis 2 journey will take four astronauts around the moon next year. We’ll send Artemis 3 to the south pole of the moon at least a year after that. I’m going to focus on the south pole of the moon and imagine what it would be like to be standing there and watching this eclipse happen.

Blood Moon Eclipse 2025

Explorers in the future might be able to see that, and we’re getting ready for that possibility right now. What’s cool is that it’s happening on March 14, which is Pi Day, so 3.14. Astronomers use that fixed number to help them figure out and measure the earth’s shadow and how much of it really covers the moon during an eclipse. Could you talk about how rare this is? This isn’t the rarest thing that’s happened. It took place a few years ago.

Could you talk about that part at all? Yeah, and it’s really cool that so many people from all over the world will be able to see this together. Seeing the sunrise or sunset kind of bounce off the moon’s surface is really cool and beautiful, making an orange and red color. This is a very rare event. And it looks like we won’t see anything until around January 1, 2048, at least to this totality and this sphere when we look at North and South America.

So, if you can, and the sky is clear and the stars are in the right place, try to see this red moon, which is also called the blood moon. This is a very special and one-of-a-kind time for all of us. If you are in the United States, you can go outside late tonight and see a blood moon. It will depend on when totality starts. It starts at 2:26 a.m. Eastern time. And based on the cloud cover where you are, people all over the United States will be able to see this interesting event happen.

A beautiful blood-red moon eclipse will be seen in many places of the world. If the skies are clear here, we’ll see the last few minutes of a partial eclipse. Like the way the sky is blue because the atmosphere scatters that light, the atmosphere also lets the redder colors of light through.

When the Sun goes down behind the Earth, those light rays go through the air and are only left with red light. We won’t see a full total lunar eclipse, but we will see a partial lunar eclipse. It will happen again right around sunset. So, where can people see that best from here, and how much of it will they see? Okay. You should look toward the eastern sky because it will happen as the moon rises.

Also, just like you said, you want to be somewhere where there aren’t many big buildings. But what’s nice about seeing this at moonrise is that the moon will look much bigger because of the hills. But I think, depending on where you are, there’s a good chance that these low-lying clouds won’t be here. Also, once more, clouds can kind of make it better. I believe we will have a good chance of seeing it. Okay. Where in the world should you be to see this moon eclipse the best? Right now, in the southeast of the US, is going to be the best time to see this because the moon will be at its highest point in the sky.

Well, properly speaking, you can see it anywhere the moon is high during the eclipse. For this event, you don’t have to be in a certain place like you do for a sun eclipse. It just depends on when it gets dark. That’s going to be the best time to see the eclipse because it’s getting close to midnight in the U.S. Okay. Then what about future eclipses, whether they are partial or complete, on the sun or the moon?

How long do we have to wait? That was put off yesterday. These are the people who have been there for nine months. What has changed about that? We already know that NASA thinks they’ve fixed the problem that made yesterday’s launch impossible. So, they hope that the Crew 10 launch will have happened by this time tomorrow. And as the F1 race starts here on Sunday, I hope they’ll be docking with the space station to bring the scientists back.
